Location: Montana (Various Facilities)

Position Summary

We are seeking experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurses (L&D RNs) for contract and per diem opportunities at hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Montana. L&D RNs provide comprehensive care to mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period, ensuring safe, high-quality, and compassionate obstetric care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to laboring and delivering patients in accordance with clinical standards and facility protocols
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status, including interpretation of fetal heart tracings
  • Assist physicians and midwives during labor, delivery, and emergency obstetric situations
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as ordered
  • Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management options, and postpartum care
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including OB providers, anesthesia, NICU, and postpartum staff
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and patient-centered environment

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Montana (or compact license, if applicable)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Current ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications (may vary by facility)
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, high-acuity environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Travel or contract nursing experience
  • Experience with high-risk obstetrics
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Schedule & Assignment Details

  • Contract assignments: Typically 8–13 weeks, with potential extensions
  • Per diem shifts: As needed, variable schedules
  • Shifts may include 12-hour days or nights, depending on facility needs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay (varies by contract and facility)
  • Per diem and contract opportunities may include premium pay

Work Environment

L&D RNs work in hospital-based labor and delivery units, caring for patients across all stages of childbirth. Montana facilities range from community hospitals to regional medical centers, offering diverse clinical experiences and opportunities.
